3 views are available for review. There is a alveolar pattern in the left caudal lung lobe and the right cranial lung lobe. The cardiac silhouette is enlarged. There is mild enlargement of the pulmonary veins. In the viewable abdomen, there is mild liver enlargement.
Cardiomyopathy (HCM, DCM, RCM) and heart failure with cardiogenic pulmonary edema
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with evidence of pronounced left atrial enlargement and congestive heart failure. Owner should be aware of sequelae of HCM – further CHF, aortic thromboembolism, and sudden death due to ventricular arrhythmias. Prognosis—average life span post CHF is 12 months. Lifelong cardiac medication will be necessary.

The cardiac silhouette is enlarged and rounded. The pulmonary arteries are dilated and tortuous. A diffuse bronchial pattern is present throughout the lungs. Regional, geometric increased interstitial opacity is also present in the right cranial and left caudal lung lobe. On one of the lateral projections, a fusiform soft tissue opacity is present in the stomach. Ddx: heartworm disease with verminous pneumonia, primary pulmonary disease w/ secondary pulmonary hypertension, or less likely inflammatory pulmonary disease w/ unrelated concurrent cardiac disease. Additional diagnostics: echocardiogram, heartworm antibody test
