Today’s case is a 1-year-old male neutered mixed breed dog with history of gagging episodes and upper airway noise for 10 days. Take a look at the case and post your interpretations.
There is a large soft tissue mass in the retropharyngeal area which is compressing and extending into the nasopharynx and oropharynx. The thorax appears normal.
The soft tissue mass in the retropharyngeal area may indicate an abscess or enlarged lymph node. Consider ultrasound to further evaluate the region. Normal thorax.
The abscess resolved with medical management. No foreign bodies were found on ultrasound.
