Today’s case is a 6 year old male neutered Shih Tzu with cough and respiratory difficulty. What are your findings?
The cardiac silhouette is enlarged, with predominantly right sided enlargement. The pulmonary arteries are enlarged and tortuous, with abrupt tapering in the periphery. The main pulmonary artery is enlarged on the ventrodorsal projection. There is a diffuse bronchointerstitial pattern throughout the lungs, most prominent caudodorsally. The peritoneal detail is decreased.
Heartworm disease with pneumonitis and peritoneal effusion secondary to caval syndrome.
