There is poor peritoneal detail in the abdomen, with regions of gas opacity that are not apparently contained within the gastrointestinal tract. The duodenum is distended on multiple projections. The remainder of the abdominal organs are normal.
Peritoneal fluid and free gas are consistent with septic peritonitis, possibly due to bowel rupture. Distended duodenum may be due to entertitis or obstruction.
Abdominal ultrasound was performed, revealing free gas, free fluid, and a jejunal mass with gas tracking through the wall to the serosal surface. Euthanasia was elected, and T-cell lymphoma with multiple sites of rupture was diagnosed on necropsy.
