The liver and spleen appear normal. There is an enlarged small intestinal loop ventral to the colon on the left lateral projection. The wall appears thickened with an undulating mucosal surface. On the right lateral projection, there are unusually shaped gas bubbles in this region. Several other mildly enlarged small intestinal loops are visible. No abnormalities are seen in the urinary tract.
Small intestinal mass with partial mechanical obstruction. Differential diagnoses include carcinoma, round cell neoplasia, and sarcoma.
An ultrasound examination was performed and found the intestinal mass and mesenteric lymphadenopathy. Fine needle aspirates were obtained, and cytology with immunohistochemistry found a probable sarcoma of unknown type. Further diagnostics were not pursued.
